My grandfather is currently in hospital in France where he has had transient ischemic attacks this weekend while on vacation with my mother and sister. They were scheduled to fly home next week, though chances are high that will get postponed at least a few days on doctor's orders. I'm trying to be as much help as I can from an ocean away. What practical aspects of being hospitalized in a foreign country should I be thinking of helping with?

I entered for the National Body Building Championships in 2008 but became severely dehydrated & hypoglycaemic. I was incoherent but the doctor at the hospital was able to immediately confirm from my MyHealth Alert card that I was not on any drugs. He rang my doctor whose details were on my card & he confirmed that I was free of drugs or medical problems. Consequently the hospital doctor was able to get on with immediate & successful treatment.
